-Didn’t know about this coloration but it’s from a condition called melanism. Pigments are darker-giving an opposite result to that of albinism. Usually barn owls with this condition are killed by their mother due to confusion. Also, unlike albinism which makes the animal much weaker than the average, melanism makes the animal slightly stronger.
